My sister is very annoyed that I got this for my niece, which is probably the highest praise that a teen novel about witchcraft, written by a well known practioner of Wicca, can receive. Plus I want to slap every character in this book, so it’s probably very appealing to the teenaged crowd.

I must admit that I actually liked this book, although I am not a teenager! I found it in my closet and decided to read it. It was an easy read, but quite fun and good for a rainy day. The novel definitely kept my interest and I enjoyed it. One thing that made me give it 4/5 stars was that I felt the ending was rushed, but other than that, it's definitely a fun book.

... FIRST of all, she is NOT trying to "get out ofjail" its called a "window". see? its what people useto look outside from inside their houses. In fact, through the course of events in the plot, NONE of the characters even GO to jail. personally, the only thing i have against the author is the fact that shes marketing some witches starters set, but other than that, she produces very well written, informative works which help lead many of today's young and old, alike, to understand, embrace, and join in on this wonderful religion which has gotten quite a bad rep for years. another point, you claim she "doesnt have the guts" to write under her own name, yet ur name is "a reader from everywhere." This book was a good book, well written, which i am glad she has written because, perhapes, one of my fellow classmates may pick this book up at the book store, and understand this religion is neither "satanic" nor "evil". and, yes, the book was, *gasp*, fun! this book was made up enjoyable characters which talk and act like *real* teens do. i feel it quite unreasonable for you to imply that "Ms. RavenWolf" is responsible for all the girls who feel as if in this day and age one must be thin to be attractive. She is a leader of the pagan book world and it seems you are merely too blinded by your own superiority that this book INDEED achieves what it was meant to, provide tangible evidince of *true* witches with a *young adult* theme.

Meant for teens but this old lady read it and enjoyed it. And the day to day pagan aspects are blended in the story well and very realistic. But then Silver is a bit of an expert on her path of paganism. And she always writes with integrity, clarity, simplicity and honesty.

I usually stay away from books that Silver Ravenwolf writes but this book was an exception. It surpasses all of her other books that i have read (teen witch, to ride a silver broomstick and so forth.) It doesnt give much practical information concerning wicca and in some areas is very exghagerated (sorry about the spelling). I started this book thinking that it was just another cheap rip off written to make money, by the end of the book i was completley entralled. The story line is a classic but changed enough to make it wonderful. Adding the practice of the craft to the story line made it well worth reading. I related to the characters perfectly. I got the feeling that MamaSilver put a lot of herself into one of the characters. Take my word for it, once you start this book you wont be able to stop. There was just one flaw, she got rid of all of the guys to fast. I dont mind reading a few books from a girls point of view but i was really looking forward to a book in this series with a guy as the character who tells the story. Other than that its great, BUY it!

I was not particularly impressed with how this book began. Indeed, Bethany was obsessed with revenge, cold towards her so called friends, acted like a spoiled brat, and did not seem to care what the results of her magick might be.Thankfully, the writing style was easy to read and the story was fast-paced, and as the book went along Bethany became more likeable as she came out of her insular obsession with hatred and began opening up to her friends, working for good, and learning more about the true capabilities for and uses of magick.I can understand how someone crazy with grief might seek revenge; however, the portrayal of Bethany's hatred at the beginning doesn't show Wiccans in the most positive light... By the end of the book this changes; however, hopefully people won't stop reading at the first few chapters and come away with the wrong idea. The story itself is melodramatic and farfetched, even for a thriller. I had to stretch my suspension of disbelief. I found the ending rather unsatisfactory as two characters are removed from the series for what seems to be no good reason.Still, for all its flaws, the book did succeed in entertaining me enough to pick up the next in the series. I have found that the two following books are great improvements on this one. However they make better sense if you've read this one...Don't judge the series by this book, particularly by the beginning.

This is Silver's newest work-- her idea for writing this series was taken from her Wicca 101 book for Teens. Bethany Salem is the main character-- she also seems to be the acting HPs of her coven of high school teens. The plot is based around her knowledge that her boyfriend's death wasn't an accident... but she doesn't know who is responsible. The book deals with typical and not so typical teenage problems. Bethany and her friends have to deal with the irrational fears of their classmates, even teachers who provoke students because of their lack of knowledge. And of course, there's the scary "step-mother to be" who's up to a lot more than meets the eye.

Much like people's reactions to he film "The Craft," you have to take this for what it is, fiction. Parts of it actually DO focus on teachings of wicca, but like Nancy's role in "The Craft," it shows how the main chericter, Bethany, gets so angry that she is willing to mistrust and manipulate the people that she should trust most- Her coven. I think that the outcome should have been that there was a horrible accident, and bethany realized it, the way the book ended didn't do the book justice. It made it seem like using Wicca for negative, selfish ways was o.k. But overall it was a good read.
